Your goal at a Go Go bar is to secure a boy to accompany you for the night, or enjoy the performance with a boy beside you.
Arriving at a Go Go Bar
Have a Go Go bar in mind and proceed towards it. A show promoter will approach you when you are close to their premise and nod lightly towards them. They will usher you towards a Manager of the Go Go bar.
Once the Manager has seated you, he will offer you a drinks menu. You will have to purchase a drink to stay in their premises. Think of it as an “admission fee”. Order your drink, alcoholic or non-alcoholic, sit back, relax and enjoy whatever that is happening on the stage.
Boys Parade & Stage Performances
There will either be a boys parade or stage performances.
A boys parade is where all the boys who are available will be present on the stage. They will be in their uniform with a number badge pinned to their uniform.
When the light dims, the boys will leave the stage for performances. These performances alternate between male exotic dancing to drag queen performances. Each Go Go Bar has their own unique show and ratio of male exotic dancing to drag queen performances.
After each show ends, the boys will return to the stage. Once the light dims again, the performances resume and the cycle repeats itself till the bar closes.
Boys
The number badge pinned to each boy serves as their unique number identifier. This number will stay with them till they end their stint with the Go Go bar. Numbers may be recycled should a boy quit so it is essential to remember the name of the boy alongside their number.
The most optimal time to arrive at a Go Go bar is at 9:30PM onwards. At 9:30PM, the stage may be filled with a few boys, but the bar will be relatively empty so you get first dips on the boys. Typically, all the boys have to be present for work before the first show commences. You will then have the luxury of seeing each boy turning up for work, entering the stage for you to shortlist them.
Shortlisting them is made easier as the boys who are eager to spend time with you, will flash their smiles and make small gestures to attract your attention. If you are unable to pick a boy before the first show starts, you should preferably have a few boys shortlisted to immediately pick when the next boys parade begins.
Every boy parade post show is competitive. You will be competing with other customers to pick the boy of your choice first. This is a first-come-first-serve place. Once you sighted someone you are interested in, you may either signal the Manager to bring the boy down, or directly signal the boy to sit beside you.
It is customary to purchase the boy a drink, which he draws a small commission from. The boy will chat with you, entertain you and make you feel comfortable in their presence. Their goal is to secure you as a customer, bringing them out of the bar for the evening. Your goal is to ascertain if the boy is compatible with you.
If you realise that the boy is not compatible with you, you may send him back to the stage after tipping them. The amount of tips given to them is determined by the duration they have spent with you.
Different Go Go bars have different demographics of boys. Some Go Go bars try to hire as many Thais as possible, while others may focus on non-Thais (Vietnamese, Laotians, Cambodians). The boys serving you can be either straight (or “man” as they term it in Bangkok), or gay.
While the boy is seated beside you, take the time to understand their country of origin, sexual orientation and see if you are comfortable with him.
Taking a Guy Out of the Go Go Bar
Taking a boy out of the Go Go bar is ending their night’s work at the bar, which is known as “off”. To “off” a boy, you have to pay the bar a compensation known as the “off fee”. Take this “off fee” as a fee paid for the Go Go bar to serve as an intermediary between you and the boy(s).
From here, you have the option of spending a short duration (short time) or overnight (long time) with the boy. A short time will require lesser tips than an overnight stint with you. The tips amount should be negotiated prior to “off-ing” the boy.
It is recommended for the first encounter to be a short time to ascertain the ability of the boy to perform in the bedroom when he returns to your hotel. Do note that the boys generally do not carry with them condoms, lubricants or Viagra / Cialis. If possible, prepare them beforehand prior to reaching the Go Go bar.
Conclusion
At the end of the night, if you are satisfied with the boy, tip them and take their contact details. From here, you have two choices. You can text the boy to turn up for work, promising him that you will “off” him for the night, or make private arrangements with him.
